Fire cider is a “dawa” concoction consisting of numerous beneficial herbs and spices. Some of these include
horseradish, thyme, garlic, apple cider vinegar, and cayenne pepper. The ingredients in fire cider help support the
body in a variety of ways, such as boosting the immune system, supporting the body during colds or congestion, and
aiding digestion. The term “fire cider” was only coined in the 1970s by herbalist Rosemary Gladstar, who also created
the popular recipe still used today. Over the years, herbalists have adapted her recipe to incorporate different herbs
and spices.
